Preparation Is the Foundation of a Quality Finish

At DL Decorating, we believe a high-quality finish starts long before the first coat of paint is applied. Careful preparation is a key part of every job, from protecting surrounding areas and repairing damaged surfaces to filling, sanding and priming before the final finish.

Protecting Your Home & Property

Before work begins, we take care to protect floors, furniture, fixtures and surrounding areas. Dust sheets, masking and protective coverings are used where needed so we can work carefully and keep your property clean and protected throughout the job.

Repairs & Surface Preparation

Cracks, holes, damaged plaster and deteriorated timber are properly assessed and repaired before decorating begins. Surfaces are then filled, sanded and prepared carefully to create the best possible base for primers and finish coats.

Filling, Sanding & Fine Detailing

Careful filling and sanding helps remove imperfections and creates smooth, even surfaces. We pay particular attention to edges, joints, woodwork and previously repaired areas, taking the time needed to achieve a clean surface before any finish coats are applied.

Preparing for the Finish

Once repairs and preparation are complete, the appropriate primers and sealers are applied where required. We then check the surfaces again and carry out any final preparation needed before applying the finish coats.

The Finished Result

Thorough preparation gives every finish the best possible foundation. These completed projects show the results of careful repairs, preparation and attention to detail.
